Welcome back to Reboot Boot Camp!

Soooo, how many seconds did you hold your forearm plank for yesterday? If you haven’t already, drop me a line and let me know. And, if you didn’t do it yet, no time like the present :)

Today, we have 2 challenges. First, be sure to complete our 10 minute weekly workout and the second challenge is to take a 10 minute walk outside!

In Reboot, we’re working on boosting our activity and our steps and also reducing stress!

Heading outside to soak up any bit of nature is incredibly therapeutic for our bodies. In fact, the Japanese have a term for it - “forest bathing”.

Don’t worry! Forest bathing is not about taking a bath in the forest. Well, I suppose you could if you wanted to but traditionally, forest bathing is where we go outside and take in nature with all of our senses. This is considered to be medicinal and has a calming and restorative effect on our bodies.

You don’t necessarily need to be in a forest to get the effects. Simply go outside and take experience all that you see. Smell the air. Touch the trees, grass or flowers. Feel the air on your skin and see all that there is around you.

Here are just a few of the benefits for our bodies:

  • Lowers levels of the stress hormone, cortisol

  • Decreases blood pressure

  • Improves recovery from surgery or illness

  • Boosts our mood

  • Boosts our concentration

  • Boosts our energy

So, grab 10 minutes today, get outside and find a slice of nature for a bit. Bring a friend for an added stress reducer! And, if you’re wondering, yes, you can totally count this towards your 30 minutes of moderate activity today!

Ready? Set. Go!

Don’t forget to keep up our weekly goals too!
